UNIVERSITY OF CUMBRIA AND THE OVERSEAS TEACHERS NETWORK – WORKING TOGETHER TO MEET THE LEARNING NEEDS OF THE OVERSEAS TEACHER.
The Overseas Teachers Network is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with the University of Cumbria (formally St Martin’s College), the largest initial teacher education provider in the United Kingdom.
The Faculty of Education in the University of Cumbria has a well-established reputation for offering high quality initial teacher education and post-graduate CPD to teachers in the UK. The faculty has a long history of being involved in the international education scene. OTN and the University share a commitment to provide the same opportunities for, and raise the profile and value of, teacher’s with overseas teaching experience, and improve outcomes for all children and young people.
The partnership between the Overseas Teachers Network and the University of Cumbria will bring new opportunities for OTN members to enhance their understanding of their career development needs through an online CPD self-evaluation tool and develop their careers through bespoke CPD opportunities. The partnership will bring online accredited CPD to overseas teacher’s allowing you to study for an MA in Education.
OTN and the University of Cumbria have a shared vision to support teachers who have aspirations to teach overseas, we share a commitment to ensuring that overseas teachers have access to high quality opportunities to develop their careers and we also recognise the need to support the returning teacher in their transition back into the UK classroom.
This new partnership also seeks to work closely with school leadership teams in overseas settings and support them in their curriculum development, leadership and management and in their response to new policy.
The faculty has a strong and growing portfolio of non-teacher education courses, providing career development for teaching assistants, special needs support and those working in the early years sector. The new partnership with OTN will give the University of Cumbria the opportunity to develop learning opportunities for this important sector of the overseas schools workforce.
